Filip Hendrickx

Filip is primarily responsible for the “metal” department within the Central Workshop.

“Our service takes care of all accidental and preventive maintenance of everything metal related. We regularly make new things completely tailor-made. We also carry out maintenance on unique heirlooms such as the book lift in the Central BiB on Ladeuze. It gives enormous satisfaction to drive around Leuven and see something of yourself again and again.”

Together with Melanie (who works at UZ Leuven), he is the proud parent of Kaat (17), Ferre (15), Loes (14), Fons (9) and foster daughter Nora (5). “Except for Ferre, who does martial arts, the rest plays on brass instruments.” Filip is also working on genetics of various old native farmyard animals, mainly fowl. “Important for me in this hobby is the appreciation you receive and I find that equally important in the workplace, the appreciation towards and for each other.” He also breeds cows and sheep as a farmer in secondary profession.

“After 16 years at the university, I still enjoy coming to work every day. I think it is very important that everyone feels good about themselves and confident in their job. A great goal that I intend to achieve is to safeguard a stable, healthy and pleasant working environment for every employee, so that they can continue to enjoy many healthy years even after their efforts, partly thanks to a look back on a challenging career with financial satisfaction.”
