The KU Leuven Association is an ambitious network of high-quality higher education institutions spread across Flanders and Brussels. Its members include 4 colleges ("hogescholen"), 1 school of arts and 1 university.

Committees are installed within the General Meeting to carry out tasks that have been assigned to the association by decree (e.g. EVC-EVK), or that the Governing Body has explicitly delegated.

This includes the Social Consulation Body.

The installation meeting (2002) stated about its organization: "From the outset, the Leuven association considered it very important to consult with students and staff in a structured manner. This group therefore has a priority task to fulfill. The association offers many opportunities to strengthen our educational field, collaborate more and create more opportunities for our students."

"But this reform also contains hidden threats, such as cuts. This group of employers and employees must seize all opportunities but also keep an eye on the threats."

"The task of this group is to promote and stimulate cooperation between the various sections of the personnel. On the other hand, this group must put a stop to the overexploitation of our personnel."
