Myriam Swartenbroeckx
Myriam started her KU Leuven career at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences. 36 years later, she is currently appointed as a full time administrative, financial and HR employee for the Department of Public Health and Primary Care. She is also ATP representative within the department board.
“My honesty and sincerity are my greatest assets. With my heart in the right place, I am always concerned about others. This is also one of the reasons why I am putting myself forward as a candidate. My purpose is to contribute to a better future for my colleagues at KU Leuven: for an enjoyable working atmosphere without bullying, a job with career opportunities, pay for work and equality and respect for everyone.”
As a deputy OCMW councilor (2017) of the municipality of Landen, she has gained a lot of knowledge and experience within the social sector. These social skills come in handy in her current work situation, where she is always ready to lend a listening ear to her colleagues with whom she tries to constructively look for a possible solution. “The combination of seriousness and humor always helps with that.”
“I live in the beautiful rural Wezeren (Landen) with my daughter Britt and my boyfriend Rudy. I attach great importance to my family and friends by always taking care of them and giving them a hug, a small gift or a smile. I enjoy good food, delicious wines and a trip to the Belgian coast. I like to play badminton and read books, but most of all I like organizing parties and events. In the spring I will help at the blossom festivals in Velm where I’ll make sure that everyone can savor a nice, fresh beer.”
